Celebrate Studio Glass in Toledo

Well, not surprisingly, the bucket list keeps growing. Adding to my rundown of interesting art glass events happening across the country this fall, the Toledo Arts Commission has declared October the “Month of Glass.” Toledo is the birthplace of the studio glass movement, so they take this celebration seriously. The centerpiece is Hot Glass, an exhibit in the lobby of the Toledo Edison Building showcasing 121 original pieces by artists from around the world who work in a wide range of materials and techniques. This show is the area’s largest and longest-running international contemporary glass arts exhibition and will be on view through October 30. The Arts Commission is also hosting a variety of other events and educational opportunities to learn about glass and its place in Toledo’s history, in partnership with numerous venues (including the Glass Pavilion at the Toledo Museum of Art); click here for details.
