Another Beautiful Day Has Dawned Upon Us consists of handcrafted, kiln-cast glass with silvering on the back. Selected diary passages from the Library’s private collection about the westward migration are applied to the back of the kiln-cast glass and are visible through the face. The work was commissioned by the State of Utah as part of Utah’s Percent-for-Art Program.
The diary passages are portrayed in their original handwritten form with the grammar and punctuation unchanged. Following are selected excerpts for each mural.
