Fallsgrove Plaza Elevator Corridor Glass Installation

After sharing my most recent elevator corridor glass installation, I remembered that I had never shared a similar installation created for Fallsgrove Plaza Medical/Office Building in Rockville, Maryland back in 2013 (though I did write a short blog post about it last January). Often, there is a considerable lag time between when a piece is installed and when the site is finished to the point where the piece can be photographed. I entitled this piece, “It Might As Well Be Spring,” so this month feels like an appropriate time to finally give it a full page!

[Yes, the reference is to the song by Rogers & Hammerstein from the 1945 film, State Fair, though the version that runs through my head is that of Sarah Vaughan with Miles Davis. Musical references often arise when I contemplate titling a work. This is the topic of a blog post from some time ago and much more can be said about titling works.]

As with the last project I shared, I used my sawtooth glass to enliven a dead wall in an elevator corridor at Fallsgrove Plaza, in this case deliberately pulling colors from the natural world into the building’s modern, sleek interior. The glass brings light and energy into an otherwise austere space, offering passersby some inspiration as they move through the building. I was pleased to collaborate with DVA Architects and developer Lerner Enterprises on this project.
