Anyone who knows me, or who has been following this blog for any length of time, will be familiar with my interest in creating art glass installations for interfaith chapels and meditation rooms, largely in the realm of health care.

Airports are another setting where architects, designers, and artists frequently engage in the task of creating spiritual centers for people practicing a variety of religions. I always enjoy checking out the chapels and meditation rooms in these settings to see how they are addressing the many design challenges.

Recently, I was delighted to stumble upon Angelika Weingart’s chapel glass art for the Frankfurt Airport via LambertsGlas and fabricated at Glasmalerei Peters. I appreciate Weingart’s minimalist approach to creating a space that is private yet expansive using mouth-blown LambertsGlas laminated to float glass. See additional views of the work on the artist’s website. Her other work, which includes several other fine chapel art glass installations, is worth a look as well.
