A Little Bauhaus Color Humor

A little Bauhaus color humor from Grant Snider

Comic by Grant Sinder (via Incidental Comics)

Recently stumbled over this great comic again and can’t resist sharing. On his website, creator Grant Snider talks about his inspiration: a thrift store copy of Bauhaus color theorist Johannes Itten’s The Elements of Color (which is actually a co-publication by the ubiquitous Faber Birren, simplifying and condensing Itten’s masterpiece The Art of Color). Snider writes that he was struck by “the way Itten wrote of the colors as if they were living, breathing entities, with the capacity for good—or evil.” His illustrations and captions on top of Itten’s color charts couldn’t be more spot on.
