Ribbons In Time is a site-specific art installation at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater. The project was sponsored by the Salt Lake City Public Art Program. Consisting of over one hundred four by eight foot lites of bent, tempered, and laminated glass, the colored glass balustrades overlook the public lobby from the second and third floors. At night, the colored glass balustrades can be seen from outside the theater. The sequence of colors emphasizes the curvilinear and sculptural nature of the balconies and resembles ribbons of color flowing through space. The title references both geological strata and the notion that dance, music, and theater are time-based arts.
